ABOUT THIS IDEAMerged origin

A networking problem suggested by u/TheBigNeku.

The concept came from a network systems engineer describing the frustration of managing local DNS and reverse proxy rules in separate systems.

They described creating DNS records that point to servers, then using a reverse proxy to avoid typing application port numbers. The trouble is that web proxying does not replace normal access to other ports, such as SSH on port 22.

Their goal is a central management interface that understands both the machine and the services running on it, without becoming an overly complex IPAM system.
